Why choose Titian Kasih
What a smaller, focused practice can do that larger firms often cannot.
Working exclusively in family law, with a small team and no volume targets, changes what it is possible to offer clients.
Back to homeSix things that shape every matter we handle
Dedicated family law expertise
The principal lawyer has worked in family law for over a decade. This is not one area among many — it is the only area the practice covers.
No contact without instruction
We do not approach the other party, their advisers, or any third party without your explicit agreement. This is particularly relevant when a client is still weighing their options.
Written cost estimates upfront
Before any work begins, we provide a clear breakdown covering legal fees and expected court costs. If circumstances change, we notify you before costs increase.
Same lawyer throughout
The lawyer who conducts your first consultation handles your matter from beginning to end. You are not passed between fee-earners at different stages.
Honest about mediation
Where mediation or a negotiated arrangement is more likely to serve a family, we say so. We do not recommend proceedings where a lighter-touch route is appropriate.
Flexible appointment formats
Consultations are available in person, by telephone or by video, including outside standard office hours. Access to legal advice should not depend on being able to attend in person during the working day.
Expertise
Family law is not a sideline here
Many law firms handle family matters alongside corporate, conveyancing or litigation work. That breadth can dilute focus. Titian Kasih covers family matters only, which means the principal lawyer's reading, professional development and day-to-day work all point in the same direction.
The Selangor family courts have their own procedural culture. Knowing what the registrar expects, how listings typically move, and where discretion exists within the rules is knowledge built up over years — not from a textbook.
- Over ten years in family law practice
- Familiarity with Selangor family court procedures
- Annual continuing legal education requirement met
- Knowledge of LRA 1976 and related legislation
- Written estimate before any work begins
- Stage-by-stage explanation of what happens next
- No action taken without your agreement
- Realistic timelines — not optimistic ones
Process
Clarity at each stage
Legal proceedings can feel opaque. Documents arrive, hearings are listed and adjourned, correspondence goes back and forth — and it is not always clear what any of it means for your situation. We work against this by explaining each step in ordinary language before it happens.
Timelines are presented as realistic ranges rather than best-case figures. Where a case is taking longer than expected, you are told why.
Service
One point of contact, consistently responsive
At a larger firm, a client may speak to a partner at the outset, then find that day-to-day handling is passed to a junior. At Titian Kasih, the lawyer who meets you at the first consultation is the lawyer who handles your matter throughout.
Messages are responded to within one working day. For urgent matters outside office hours, a direct number is provided at the start of every case.
- Same lawyer from consultation to close
- Response within one working day
- Out-of-hours contact for urgent matters
- Appointments by video or phone available

What you will not find elsewhere
Notes given to you after consultation
After the first consultation, written notes of what was discussed are provided. Nothing is kept on an active file unless you request it.
Correspondence can be held
If you need time before a letter goes out, we can hold it. Legal processes move on fixed tracks; within those tracks there is often more room to pause than clients expect.
Referral network for adjacent needs
We can refer clients to counsellors, mediators and financial advisers where those services fit alongside the legal matter. Legal advice is one part of what a family going through change often needs.
Realistic ranges, not single figures
Outcomes in family law depend on a number of factors, many of which change during proceedings. We set out a realistic range at each stage rather than a single expected figure.
